JAIPUR KAWA BRASS BAND (India)
With elaborate rhythms and virtuoso improvisations this spectacular group of Rajastanhi gypsies present a wild repertoire, from traditional Indian classics to popular Bollywood hits. Drawn from some of India’s most renowned brass bands these highly talented musicians always come up with an unexpected and rousing performance, whether on parade in the streets, on a main stage or mingling amongst a crowd.
A rousing musical extravaganza, the soul of the contemporary Indian’s feast, – on recognisably Western instruments such as the clarinet, trumpet, trombone, sousaphone, saxophone and tuba and an array of percussion. They perform with a beautifully costumed Gypsy Sapera Kalbelya dancer, whose choreography represents the contortions of the cobra- the guardian of spiritual truth- and a genuine fakir, whose sabre swallowing, extreme juggling and stupendous balancing skills have to be seen to be believed.
A truly exceptional act, established World-wide with numerous appearances across the whole of Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and the Far East - and regular performers at Glastonbury for the past 6 years.
KAWA CIRCUS (Rajasthan, India)
The mystical and magical wandering circuses of Rajasthan are a tradition stretching back centuries. This special production takes audiences into their rarely seen world, through an inventive show featuring a fusion of live music, dance, puppetry, theatre and breath-taking circus skills.
Kawa Circus tell the story of an itinerant troupe of street performers, arriving with all their materials and charm. Audiences get to share the intimacy of the company, with its tyrannical director, mesmerising traditional dancer, funambulist (Indian rope walker), athletic acrobats and daring pole-vaulter - with the background musicians providing rhythm and drama and unable to resist poking fun at their colleagues antics.
Expect colourful scenery, fascinating music, rapid costume changes, hilarious actions and some extreme stunts.

RANGO (Egypt/Sudan)
Following a sold-out show at the Barbican’s Transender Weekender and a 30 date national tour in October 2009, Sudanese/Egyptian collective, Rango, return to the UK in July 2010 to launch their new album "Bride of the Zar".
The band take their name from a vintage xylophone known as the Rango which first appeared in Egypt during the 1820’s. Rango play trance-inducing music from Sudanese Zar mystic healing ceremonies, hip-quaking Nubian wedding melodies, ritualistic tales of an Arabian Dracula and songs recounting the mysterious disappearance of sardine rations in the Egyptian army – all performed on vintage 190-year-old rango xylophone with spirit manifesting gourd resonators, simsimiyya & tanbura lyres retrofitted with electric pickups, and shakers made from recycled aerosol cans.
"Easily one of the most joyous and exhilarating concerts of the year" The Times
"Like Clint's 45 Magnum, this music will blow your head straight off" London Lite
“With a mix of ritual, trance, invocation, exorcism and celebration, few assaults on the senses will be as thorough” The Independent
